The benefits of a whole body and mind approach to Part 2.

The question of the value of integrating other protocols alongside HRT is something our Health Concierge Team gets asked about a lot.

It’s a question we always respond to carefully. Our role is not to tell you what to do. Our job is to provide the latest insight, signpost to the most trusted and balanced resources and encourage you to take agency to work out what works best for you. We do, however, formulate our blends so they contain no known contraindications with HRT*. And what is interesting is the number of you in the last 12 months taking HRT alongside our hard working formulations:

LIMINAL Community Insights 2024:

Do you currently take HRT alongside your blends:

36% — Of Community members report taking HRT with LIMINAL across all lifestages

51% — Of community members between 51-55 take HRT with LIMINAL

Why are these figures so important to me as the Head of Research at LIMINAL?

Because it points to the progress we’ve made in our mission as a brand over the last 12 months too.

Our overarching goal is a world where women can be well. Alongside delivering products that genuinely work, we dedicate so much love and time to sharing the latest science, signposting  to the most trusted and balanced sources for education and support, and providing free health concierge consultations whenever you need it too.

And, together, we’re changing everything. These stats point to two truths we have been laser-focused on since the very start:

1.
We should not be afraid of HRT: the hard work of doctors, government ministers, health coaches, celebrities and more is changing the accepted narrative about hormone therapy and that is going to be transformational for those that follow. In the last 12 months more of us now understand what it can offer - and the potential of it to do more than just shave off the highs and lows of our hormone rollercoaster as well. This take up may also be indicative of a growing push to educate doctors and healthcare professionals, many of whom were also exposed to misinformation exacerbated by little to no training on menopause, too.

2.
HRT is not a silver bullet: the fact that we see more members of our community on HRT than the broader population in the UK and US (which continues to track under 20% of those believed to be eligible currently) is a reason to celebrate as well. We’re old enough and wise enough to know there are no silver bullets for menopause! But at times the narrative around HRT worries me. From positioning it as an anti-aging elixir to telling us we will lose our minds, our bones and our hearts if we don’t take it now (and forever), the effort to educate has been repurposed by individuals with less honourable  motivations at times. I  always stress that LIMINAL is not a silver bullet either! But the fact that our community is exploring the benefits of layering up, reporting the  tangible  impact of wholefood-led supplementation with their medical prescription as well, tells me that we’re owning our own health. And that is the best way to journey into Part 2.

As a final reflection, whenever I write about HRT I think about those in our community unable to take it. When the whole world is singing the praises of something not available to you, it can make us feel incredibly isolated and alone. If your medical or family history means it is not considered safe, please do check out our naturopathic guide, authored by our resident naturopath and Scientific Lead, Dr Martins  in partnership with the wonderful charity Menopause & Cancer - and free to all to download - HERE. I love this resource as it is super helpful for those of us who simply choose not to take the hormone replacement route too.

*Important safety note: whilst there are no known contraindications with hormone therapy and LIMINAL’s range, it’s critical that you speak to your medical / health practitioner before introducing any new supplement to your daily regime. Particularly if you have an underlying health condition.
